Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Vemulawada Temple, Karimnagar

Overview: 

Vemulawada is situated at about 11 kms to the NorthEast of Sirsilla and 36kms from the Karimnagar on the Karimnagar, KamaReddy bus route. Buses ply regularly from Karimnagar, KamaReddy and Hyderabad. This place owes its importance ti the sacred and famous temple of Sri Rajarajeswara, an incarnation of Lord Siva.

History: 
Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam – Abode of Lord Eashwara – at Vemulawada village of Karimangar District in Telangana State is one of the ancient and famous Shivate temples. The Institution was categorized as Regional Joint Commissioner Cadre Temple under G.O.Ms.No: 262, Revenue [Endts.I] Department, dated 10/03/1992. The shrine deserves a special mention in terms of its architectural grandeur and spiritual sanctity and is one of the famous Shivate Temples in Telangana State. Existence of this shrine is lost in the mists of antiquity and even Puranas mention the existence of the Deity. The presiding Deity – Lord Raja Rajeshwara in the form of “Neela Lohitha Siva Lingam is known for his boundless benevolence in fulfilling the wishes of the devotees. This Shrine is popularly known as ‘Dakshina Kasi’ [Southern Banaras] and also as “Harihara Kshetram” for their being two Vaisnava Temples in main Temple complex i.e., Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple & Sri Seetharama Chandra Swamy Temple and Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy is Kesthra Palaka of this Temple being consecrated with Pujas/ festive rituals [both Shivate & Vaisnavate festivals] and Sreerama Navami is the 2nd major festival in this temple. A Dargah within the precincts of the temple stands as an ample evidence for religious tolerance.

Facilities to Priligrims : Providing Accommodation to the visiting pilgrims at affordable rent in Devasthanam choultries & in Dormitory Type Halls. Providing Cloakroom facility. Providing Canteen facility (Full Meals @ Rs.25/- Lunch & Dinner Timings). Uninterrupted drinking water facilities. Dress Changing facilities to the ladies at Dharmagundam Bathing rooms for ladies at Dharmagundam Sulabh Complex Toilets. Maintaining sanitation in Devasthanam area [ Devasthanam Senior Sanitary Inspector and his assistant maintain sanitation duly extracting work from the regular sweepers / scavengers & labours through contractor – Expenditure on sanitation in 2009-10 – Rs.28,26,925/-] Providing free medical facility to the visiting pilgrims in Devasthanam Homeopathic Hospital. [Devasthanam Medical Officer runs the Hospital – Expenditure on medical facilities in 2009-10 – Rs. 2,73,994/-] Free Darsanam facility. Free distribution of prasadam in the Temple. Running Devasthanam buses local trips from Vemulawada to Sircilla and back covering Korutla and Thippapur Bus Stations [reaching points to Vemulawada] and Agraharam Temple, for the convenience of the visiting pilgrims on nominal charges. Devasthanam is paying an amount of Rs.16.00 Lakhs per annum to Gram Panchayat for maintenance of Vemulawada village in terms of sanitation and drinking water etc., since villagers stay in private houses also.
